Warrior Woman

The enemy king approached her tent, out of breath from trying to escape the army that was after him. Ten thousand men had just killed his entire troop, and now he was fleeing on foot.

But Jael was ready; she went out to meet him.

'Come, my Lord, come right in. Don't be afraid.'

He asked for something to drink, a glass of water. Thinking quickly, she opened a skin of milk and let him satisfy his thirst.

'Stand at the entrance of the tent,' he pleaded. 'If someone comes by and asks you if anyone is in here, tell them no.'

Weary, the king licked his milk-stained lips one last time and fell into a deep sleep.

The power of a nurturing woman.

'But Jael...picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went quietly to him while he lay fast asleep, exhausted. She drove the peg through his temple into the ground, and he died.'

On that day, Jael won a great victory for Israel. (Yes, this story really is in the Bible. Judges 4 to be exact.)

What if, when the enemy came to YOUR door, you weren't timid but instead saw it as an opportunity to overcome him once and for all?

What if your milk is not just for kids, but for kings?

What if being a wife meant being a warrior?

It's time for women to rise up as warriors. To fight for their families, to intercede for their nations, to stand up for justice and expand God's kingdom on earth.

Don't let stereotypes startle you; don't be lured by the limits others place on you. Take the 'peg' you've got in your hands - what God has given you in your home, your workplace, your ministry - and use it to defeat lies, maintain justice, conquer sickness and overcome fear.

Remember...it's usually the lionesses who do the hunting.

Rise up and take your stand, warrior woman!
